About this archive

World License Plates is a decades-long labour of love by Michael Kustermann, documenting the vehicle registration plates of every country, state, dependency and historic entity on Earth.

This is a redesigned edition of the classic worldlicenseplates.com. Every plate image, note, map and credit from the original archive is preserved — only the presentation has been modernised: a fast search, a responsive dark gallery, and clean typography, while keeping the exact same hierarchy of regions and territories.

All plate photographs and data were contributed by hundreds of collectors worldwide, credited on each territory’s page.
